Other Regions

The Library of California is comprised of seven regions. The Gold Coast Library Network is Region VII.

  • Region I - Cascade Pacific: This region covers 13 counties in the northernmost part of the state. These counties are: Butte, Glenn, Colusa, Sierra, Plumas, Lassen, Tehama, Shasta, Modoc, Siskiyou, Del Norte, Humboldt and Trinity.
  • Region II - Golden Gateway: The Golden Gateway region is comprised of 14 counties on the west coast: Alameda, Contra Costa, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano and Sonoma.
  • Region III - Sierra Valley: Sierra Valley spans a large, geographically diverse area covering 15 counties in parts of the Central Valley and the central Sierra mountains. This region extends north to Yuba, east to Mono, west to Yolo, and south to Merced counties.
  • Region IV - Arroyo Seco: Region IV serves the counties of Los Angeles and Orange. This region boasts the largest population of the seven regions.
  • Region V - Tierra del Sol: The Tierra del Sol Library Network serves 5 counties in the southern and eastern California area. These counties are: Imperial, Inyo, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego.
  • Region VI - Heartland: There are 6 counties served by the Heartland Library Network. These counties, located in the center, or "heartland," of California, are: Kern, Kings, Tulare, Mariposa, Fresno and Madera.
