NOTE TO THE APPLICANT:
The Gold Coast Library Network invites you to become a member of Region VII of the Library of California. Membership entitles your library to participate fully in resource sharing and activities set forth in the Library of California Act of 1999: Education Code, Title 1, Division 1, Part 11, Chapters 4 and 5, Articles 1-8, Sections 18800-18870.
To qualify for membership, your organization must:
- Be in a fixed location in or adjacent to San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, or Ventura County.
- Have established hours of service.
- Provide an organized collection of information and materials accessible for use by its primary clientele.
- Show willingness to share resources with other libraries in the Gold Coast Library Network. Resource sharing may include one or more of the following: lending materials; supplying copies of materials; providing access to materials on site; providing materials in digital form; and offering staff expertise.
- Designated, onsite, paid staff for library services, at least one of whom shall have a master's degree in library or information science or a California library media teacher credential issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing, but equivalent graduate education or demonstrated professional experience may be substituted for this requirement. The eligibility determination will be made by the Gold Coast Library Network.
- Have designated, onsite paid staff in the library, at least one of whom shall have a master's degree in library science or equivalent graduate education or demonstrated professional experience. In the case of public schools, a California library media teacher credential issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing is required.
- Have an established funding base.
