Summary of Executive Board Meeting
at Gold Coast Library Network
March 8th, 2001

The meeting began at 10:00 a.m. and ended at noon.

1. Revised Meeting Schedule - John offered to host the May 10 Board meeting at Westmont. The LoC meeting will be two day only (April 25-26) because of Library Legislative Day.
2. Budget Update - The budget format will be revised and will show funding and expenditures broken down by programs.
3. Annual Plan of Service - Our deadline is April 1. Forms are provided from LoC.
   • The majority of the discussion centered on Board activities that will build the Network over the next year. Regional delivery is being put in place. We plan to continue the contract with Gale next year if possible. We need to push ahead on our current grants as the year is running out. Should we pursue question answering? Other regions are contracting reference service.
   • Need to increase membership. We will have a membership committee soon. It was suggested that either John, as Chair, or Hiram as Academic Libraries Representative, write a letter to the newly named President of Cal State Channel Islands. Mary Lou will write a draft and give to John.
4. Meeting of Regional Networks - Judith and Mary Lou will go to Oakland on March 21 to meet with representatives from the other six regions and Diana Paque from the Library of California and discuss the Plans of Service and the state of development of each region.
