Cat-A-Link Gold
Cat-A-Link Gold, Gold Coast's resource
sharing system, is operational and expand-
ing.  Referred to as the virtual catalog, the
system allows a patron with a valid library
card to simultaneously search all partici-
pating library catalogs and then request
material that is delivered to the borrower's
home library.  Currently 15 Network mem-
bers are participating in Cat-A-Link Gold.
To view a list of the participants and search
the virtual catalog go to www.
goldcoastlibraries.org/introcat.html.

In order for a library member to participate
in Cat-A-Link Gold, the library must have
library catalog software that supports
Z39.50 protocols.  For information about
the program, please contact Janice Webb at
[email protected].

Emergency Preparedness Workshop
Twenty-five library staff members will attend a workshop on library emergency preparedness on May 2, 2002 at Foster Library in Ventura.  "Protecting Library Collections: Emergency Preparedness, Response and Recovery" will be presented by the California Preservation Task Force, a group of preservation experts in the state.  The workshop is funded through LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) with support from the Library of California and hosted by Gold Coast Library Network.

The workshop will cover the basics of preparedness and response, writing disaster plans, and assessing your facility and the second part of the workshop will be a hands-on session at the Goleta Library on August 22.

For additional information about the California Preservation Task Force, please see the California Preservation Clearinghouse at cpc.stanford.edu.
