"All About Oz" videoconference September 29th
On Saturday, September 29th at noon, Ventura County's E.P. Foster Library hosted a videoconference with author and Oz expert Michael Patrick Hearn. Curators from the Library of Congress took the audience on a virtual tour of their online exhibit of Oz memorabilia. More details about the exhibit are available at http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/oz/
September 10th staff training on children's literature held, September 11th events cancelled
The State Library's Rural Initiative offered "From Potter (Beatrix) to Potter (Harry)," a special staff training videoconference on children's literature featuring Michael Cart. Santa Maria and Paso Robles hosted the event on September 10th from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
The following day, Ventura County was scheduled to host the children's literature video event from 9am to noon and the young adult literature event in the afternoon but, due to the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, both events were cancelled. 
Horrormeister John Saul misses videoconference by an hour
John Saul, best-selling author of Nightshade, Guardian and Brainchild was scheduled to speak to Ventura County Library, Paso Robles Public Library and Santa Maria Public Library audiences on August 16, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. Due to a scheduling error, the event was cancelled.
Ventura County Library hosted LAN Management videoconference
On July 31st and August 7th, E.P. Foster Library hosted a two-day LAN Management videoconference. The conference covered such topics as network driver, protocols such as TCP/IP, network security and troubleshooting. There were 11 attendees at the first session and 12 at the second session. Attendees enjoyed the conference overall and particularly liked the interactivity of session 1.
Cat-A-Link Gold user training held
On June 25, 2001, Cat-A-Link Gold, the Network's virtual union catalog had its debut at a training session held at Ventura County's E.P. Foster Library. Member library staff from the three counties attended the hands-on session, which covered the ILL life cycle as handled in Cat-A-Link Gold. Click here to see the invitation.
Luncheon at University Club counted a success
Featured speakers Bessie Condos-Tichauer, Region VII Liaison with the Library of California, and David Dowell, Core Planning Group Chair for Region VII, spoke about the Library of California and resource sharing in the state of California.

CalPoly presented web directory training sessions. Two sessions were held in Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties. Sessions scheduled for Santa Barbara county were cancelled. More information is available at http://goldcoastlibraries.org/webdirectory/training.htm.
The final demonstration of Gale Biography Resource Center was held at the Santa Barbara High School library on March 14, 2001.
