YOU are the Goal!: Career and Individual Development Plan Workshop
Whether you are exploring options at your current library or envisioning a new workplace, an Individual Development Plan (IDP) can be a helpful tool to identify, organize and communicate your career goals. This workshop will provide tips and guidelines about the purpose of an IDP and how to put it into action. You will explore the components of an IDP, learn about free and low-cost learning resources that can support your professional development, and gain tools for communicating your development plan with your supervisor.

Margaret Driscoll, Learning Organization Librarian, UC Santa Barbara, has had a long and varied library career — working in or managing virtually every departmental function in academic libraries, from high school to research university. Throughout that winding path, she remains dedicated to keeping up-to-date with trends in the profession as well as developing a deeply held belief in the power of continuous learning.
Ryan George, Academic & Staff Human Resources Analyst, UC Santa Barbara Library is working hard to achieve “Gaucho-for-Life” status! After attending school at UCSB, he accepted a position with Housing & Residential Services. During his tenure with Residential Dining, he became involved with campus issues as a member and co-chair of the Chancellor’s Staff Advisory Council. Ryan has been at the University Library since March of 2013 and remains devoted to staff advocacy with a particular passion for professional growth and learning.
