The UC Santa Barbara Library seeks a collaborative, dynamic, service-oriented librarian to foster excellence in scholarship, research, and teaching through the delivery of innovative reference, consultation, and instructional services to the campus community. The successful candidate will also facilitate access to scholarly information sources by shaping and building two to three collections in the social sciences and serving as an expert resource to support traditional and emerging research practices and curricular development. The effective date of this position is the 2017-18 academic year.

Job opening: Web Services and Instruction Librarian at Westmont College

Westmont College, a Christian liberal arts college in the hills of Montecito, is looking to fill the position of Outreach and Instruction Librarian. This Librarian with faculty status is responsible for the vision, execution, and assessment of Outreach Services. This position is also part of the liaison librarian team, which includes providing research assistance, information literacy instruction, outreach, and collection development for assigned academic departments. Qualifications: A Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited program; 1-2 years of experience in web design and management of electronic resources and online library systems (familiarity with OCLC’s WMS preferred); ability to learn and adapt to new technologies; working knowledge of HTML, CSS, OpenURL resolvers, EZProxy, and discovery tools; detail-oriented with an ability to manage multiple projects; experience providing reference services, information literacy instruction, and collection development in a library setting; strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work effectively
both independently and in a collaborative team environment; available to work evening and weekend hours as required; awareness of assessment trends in academic libraries highly desirable.

Qualifications: A master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited program; 1-2 years of experience in library work; awareness of current trends and developments in library outreach and reference services; experience implementing and using Web 2.0 technologies; enthusiasm for troubleshooting, hands-on assistance and excellent customer service; strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; curiosity and capacity to learn and a drive to innovate; ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively; available to work evening and weekend hours as required. Experience in an academic library setting; academic library assessment practices, and library instruction preferred.
