Hello Judith,
I hope all of the planning for the next LoC meeting is going well. I have
spoken with my manager and with Barbara Custen and I am pleased to tell you
we will be able to offer the potential members of the Gold Coast Library
Network 3 different NewsBank products at a reduced price. Libraries will
have the opportunity to purchase as few as one or as many as all of the
following products:
Los Angeles Times 1985-current
Orange County Register 1987-current
Noticias en Espanol 1991-current
The libraries will be given a 25% discount for participating through Region
VII. The subscription period would be an 18 month subscription that would
start on January 1, 2001 and run through June 30, 2002. The subscription
period would be an 18 month subscription in order to make the agreement
consistent with the other regions and to leverage your buying power as a
group. Barbara Custen has agreed to allow a separate billing period for the
first cycle. As we discussed, one bill from Region IV will be sent to you.
You would then collect from the individual libraries.
Region V is currently providing the above offer to her libraries. I have
attached a sample document that was created for the region as a sign up
sheet. This document might be a good starting point for Region VII. Karen
and I created a separate sheet for each library.
If you and the committee decide to go forward with this opportunity, I would
like to discuss the time frame for making a decision.
