Bylaws of the Gold Coast Library Network
of the Library of California
Planning Region VII

I. Name of the Organization

I.A.The name of the organization is Gold Coast Library Network.

II. Object of the Organization

II.A.The object of the Library of California Act SB 409, the legislature found and declared that it is in the interest of the people of the state to ensure that all Californians have free and convenient access to all library resources and services that could provide essential information and enrich their lives; and, to respond fully and successfully to these information needs and to the diversity of California's population, libraries of all types and in all parts of the state in general and the Gold Coast Library Network in particular must be enabled to interact, cooperate and share resources. This policy shall be accomplished by enabling libraries of all types and in all parts of the state and the Gold Coast Library Network to provide their users with the services and resource of all libraries in this state, and by assisting libraries to provide and improve services to the undeserved.

II.B.By authority of Library of California Act SB 409, the Gold Coast Library Network, will carry out the goal of the Act to serve people of the Counties of Ventura Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo and ensure that they have free and convenient access to all library resources and services that could provide essential information and enrich their lives, and, to respond fully and successfully to these information needs and to the diversity of the population of the region, libraries of all types within the region must be enabled to interact, cooperate and share resources and improve services to the underserved.

III. Members of the Board

III.A Members of the Board of the Gold Coast Library Network may elected from each type of library listed below and may be elected by representatives from of that type of library and at least one library user The library director or designee from each type of library that meets the basic standard as defined in the Education Code Section 18830(a) shall be eligible to be elected to the board of directors of Region VII of the Library of California.

College and University Libraries

Institution Libraries

Organizations internal to region (Black Gold, SLA, Reforma Chapters)
