a. Minutes of March 2002 Annual Council Meeting
b. Feb. 2003 Financial Report
Moved, seconded (Bone, Sheridan) that the above be adopted; passed.
a. Officers of the 2003-4 Board of Director were announced; candidates elected unanimously.
b. Passing of the vote to change the Bylaws, allowing for new position of Immediate Past President, was announced.
6. DISCUSSION, led by acting Director Vince Schmidt:
a. The group agreed that they want to continue as a network despite lack of funding from the state. Ideas were raised for possible sources of funds to continue some level of operation: fee structure, grants, LSTA money, private or corporate donations. If fees, some libraries could volunteer time (e.g., grant writing) instead of money to stay in network..
b. Diana Paque, guest speaker, reported that some of the other Library of California networks are dissolving as a result of funding cut; others plan to maintain structure.
c. Pritchard, Director of UCSB Library, affirmed their strong commitment to the network, and said they will stay involved as UCSB has a special obligation and role to play in the Library of California.
d. Segel suggested “pulling together” to maintain network, e.g. Cal Poly website maintenance.
e. Moved and seconded that Gold Coast Library Network, Region VII of Library of California, continue structure and programs, to the extent possible, despite cuts in funding. [See letter to Director of Library of California, following]
7. GUEST SPEAKER: Diana Paque, Director of the Library of California, made her presentation.
8. FAREWELL REMARKS FROM CHAIR CAROL KEATOR
Carol made farewell remarks to Council, recognized Judith Segel for her 14 years of service with Black Gold, TIE and Gold Coast, thanked Chris Gallery for putting the meeting together.
9. ADJOURNMENT: Moved, seconded (Kreissman, Day) to adjourn. Passed, 12:10 pm.
