Transition of Services and Funds from CLSA

During the first year of the Gold Coast Library Network, California Library Services Act (CLSA) services to public libraries will continue to be provided through the Black Gold Cooperative Library System.  The Network will study the CLSA services and explore options for replacing and augmenting the services to public libraries as well as expanding them to other types of libraries where appropriate.  The studies will cover Communications, Delivery, and Improvement of Local Reference Service.

The Network’s grant-funded projects involving communications and online reference services will provide experience in a multitype environment to help develop appropriate transitional strategies for the communication and reference service elements.   Training is a major objective of the network both in the coming year and in the future.  This, too, will help determine how to make the transition from CLSA smooth and successful.

The transition from the CLSA System Advisory Board to the Library of California’s user representatives on the Network Council will occur after the Council user representatives are appointed and have gained some experience.
