Essential Functions of Position:
Commencing Fall 2015, a full-time, tenure-track Librarian position will be available in the Santa Barbara City College Luria Library. We are seeking applicants who can participate in a team environment dedicated to excellent customer service and student success. Our emphasis on creativity, collaboration, and technology innovation makes this a dynamic workplace.

As the technology lead, this position will provide vision, leadership, and support to current and emerging technologies for the library. Primary responsibility is the development and maintenance of library technology infrastructure, including managing and coordinating the library’s online presence, library website and web services, and online resources; daily maintenance and administration of the integrated library system; collaborating with campus technology to maintain technology infrastructure; lead in the development and maintenance of online assessment tools and instructional technology.

Responsibilities also include providing reference services, both face-to-face and virtual, instructing students and faculty in the use of library resources and teaching classes in information competency and collection development. Other responsibilities include full participation in departmental responsibilities and college service (such as committee assignments, co-curricular activities).

Santa Barbara City College is a comprehensive community college serving the south coast of Santa Barbara County. The Eli Luria Library, named after benefactor Eli Luria, was built in 1989. The Luria Library offers a dynamic, innovative, and exciting place for students to learn. Position Summary: 
The Luria Resident is generously funded by The Luria Foundation. This is an opportunity for a recent library school graduate to explore community college librarianship by working in all areas of an award-winning community college library. This is a temporary part-time position and will be completed between January 21, 2014 – May 23, 2014 with the possibility for an extension into the following academic year.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Library Science, Library and Information Science that was awarded in the last two years.
  • A career interest in community college librarianship.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.; adaptable to a rapidly changing environment, and ability to collaborate with various departmental service units.
  • Energetic, innovative, and flexible.

Oxnard College opens new Library Learning Resource Center

The new Library Learning Resource Center at Oxnard College opened its doors on June 18, 2012. It provides 38,000 square feet of space and includes a Math Center, Writing Center, open computer lab, large and small group study rooms, instructional media collection, reference collection with support space, electronic classroom, tutorial and study areas, office space, distance learning services, and faculty resource center. The construction project was funded through Measure S Bond funds to serve students and the community. Make sure to stop by and visit when you’re in town!

Moorpark College Library

The Moorpark College Library/Learning Resource Center serves all currently enrolled students, college faculty and staff, and members of the community. The library is a comfortable place to study, to investigate a topic of interest, or to enjoy reading a current book, periodical, or magazine. Please feel free to ask for assistance in using the library; a reference librarian is available to help you with your research questions.
The Collection

The library has a curriculum-oriented collection containing approximately 77,000 books and 293 periodical subscriptions. The collection also includes microfilm, CDs, audiotapes, and videotapes. Electronic Resources are available which provide access to material, including newspaper and magazine articles, and there are numerous computer stations that provide access to the Internet free of charge.

The library is open to everyone; however, in order to borrow material, you must be a registered Moorpark College student or an employee at the College. Free student borrowers’ cards are issued at the Circulation Desk upon presentation of a picture identification.
